Eco Wildlife Management
It was our intention when we started Pro Hunter to embrace three core elements:
1. The protection of Australian native wildlife and its habitat.
2. The conscious management of natural resources by Eco-hunting.
3. The complete re-connection with our natural surroundings and environment.
Habitat loss remains the single greatest threat to wildlife worldwide. Australia currently has nearly 1,600 threatened animal species due to the increasing loss of native habitat. The major driving factor that threatens Australian native wildlife and its habitat is the introduction of invasive species (refer below).
Pro Hunter specifically aims to reduce the number of pest species found in local municipalities targeting the European red fox (Vulpes vulpes), European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) and the emerging feral deer species such as sambar (Cervis unicolor) and fallow (Cervus dama).
Pro Hunter embraces the emerging trends related to the ethos of eco-hunting and the efforts to manage our natural resources within our local environment.
Yes, the questions related to eco-hunting is complex to say the least. On one side it’s about working within and looking to improve current regulations and making certain changes that will have a positive impact on nature and the future of our planet. On the other side, hunting itself can be viewed as a sustainable activity; a return to a more natural way of living collecting naturally harvested, grass fed, free ranged organic meat.
Pro Hunter looks to be more involved and understanding of the issues caused by the introduction of invasive pest species in our local environment. We aim to keep things simple. We live local and want to address local problems. We view it as a simple means of taking more responsibility for our choices and in turn protecting our natural resources and assisting the recovery of local wildlife within our community.
The ethical and humane harvesting of animals plays a significant role in eco-hunting and is something Pro Hunter takes with the upmost of care and diligence. As eco-hunters, Pro Hunter is equipped with the ability to select the appropriate equipment when it comes to the humane destruction of invasive species using the latest technology and high-end equipment available.
At Pro Hunter we believe that small changes can make a big difference; we utilise high end copper bullets instead of traditional lead ammunition to assist in the reduction of lead poisoning to scavenger animals and the ground where tiny fragments of heavy metal can be deposited. We physically walk and map the ground ourselves; we take out everything we harvest and leave no trace of our activity in the environment.
We harvest what we take from the land. Its that simple. We protect Australian native wildlife and we look to assist in the preservation of the native habitat.
